We’re joined by the democratic representative for the 23rd District in the PA House, DAN FRANKEL, to discuss legislation dubbed the “Fairness Act.” His bill proposes new protections for LBGT Pennsylvanians by including sexual orientation and gender identity in the categories of discrimination banned statewide. Then, we’ll talk with DAVID LUIS “SUAVE” GONZALEZ, aka “Suave,” who received a life sentence in a Pennsylvania facility for a crime he committed when he was 17 years old. Also joining us is MARIA HINOJOSA, who met Suave while he was incarcerated in the 90s and sustained a journalistic relationship with him. Their story is the subject of a new podcast called “Suave,” and the podcast’s host, MAGGIE FRELENG joins us as well. And, we’ll hear about a series of livestreamed musical performances from artists called “Liminal States” which are intended to be listened to as you fall asleep. The series curator, DUSTIN HURT, joins us alongside one of the series’ performers LARAAJI. [rebroadcast]
