Miller was the first black auto racing team owner to enter the Indy 500 over thirty years ago. His son Leonard T. Miller has written a book about their experiences breaking through the color barrier of NASCAR called Racing While Black: How an African-American Stock Car Team Made its Mark on NASCAR.
