Post-Sandy politics of rebuilding the Jersey Shore

As New Jersey struggles with the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, we follow up our look at the science and engineering with a look at the politics of whether, how, where and who pays for rebuilding the beloved Jersey Shore. Joining us to start our conversation is Belmar Mayor MATT DOHERTY, who testified recently before the state Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee hearing on Sandy’s impact about what his borough, its residents and a beloved and battered boardwalk have been through. Then, we’ll get an update on the Trenton politics at play and how the state is starting what will be a long hard slog toward rebuilding from Star-Ledger reporter MARYANN SPOTO. Finally, we’ll close with a look at the Capitol Hill conversations about the politics of rebuilding and protecting coastlines of the past, present and future with HOWARD MARLOWE, president of the American League of Lobbyists who has lobbied in Washington DC on behalf of coastal communities for decades.
