Only children: Being one and having one

Listen

HR 2

Guest:  Lauren Sandler

[REBROADCAST] Writer LAUREN SANDLER is an only child with an only child. She says that for many people the choice to have just one child is loaded with anxiety, doubt, judgement and conflict. So, she decided to spend a year of her life investigating who only children are, what their lives are like, and why they sometimes get a bad rap. She also explored what having just one child says about parents who make that choice and what the rise of single-child families means for our economies, our environment and our personal freedom. It’s all in her recent book, One and Only: The Freedom of Having an Only Child, and the Joy of Being One.
