We hear so much about what we should eat and how it will make us feel better. But what if its actually the other way around- that when we are anxious or depressed, our food eating patterns get out of control. On this Voices in the Family, Dan Gottlieb will speak with two researchers at the top of their respective new fields. Dr. Kelly Allison and her book Overcoming Night Eating Syndrome: A Step By Step Guide to Breaking the Cycle. Night Eating Syndrome has only just been recognized by the DSM, and is an eating Disorder that is more prevalent, worldwide, than anorexia and bulimia combined. We’ll also speak with Dr. Lucy Faulconbridge, who researches obesity and its relationship with depression. Both are pioneers in these new field, adn from the Penn Center for Eating Disorders. In addition, we’ll hear from Dr. Amit Gefen, a bioengineer in Israel who has found that fat cells expand just with inactivity alone.
