Writer and 10-year U.S. Army veteran KEVIN POWERS will discuss his first novel, “The Yellow Birds,” which is based on his two years serving in the Iraq War. Guest host Maiken Scott will talk to Powers about his life before and after his service in the  military, on becoming a poet, and how much he has in common with his narrator, who served in the Nineveh Province in Iraq in 2004 and 2005.
