October 3, 2011 — The new documentary Jonathan’s Return by local filmmaker Eran Preis tells the story of his own son’s battle with mental illness that affects his moods and ability to control emotions and impulses. Dr. Dan Gottlieb explores families and mental illness — the ordeal and acceptance with Eran Preis and his wife Andrea. The Preis’s story of life on an emotional roller coaster that’s overwhelming and scary is one so many families share.

We also hear from psychologist Edie Mannion, manager and co-founder of the Training and Education Center at the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania. Her local support-group workshops assist families who are deeply impacted by mental illness.
