Health care law update

Listen

Hour 1

Guests: David Grande, Robert Field

The Affordable Care Act, what’s popularly known as Obamacare, is three years old but a recent poll shows that 42 percent of Americans don’t even know it is law.  According to the same Kaiser Family Foundation survey, only 35 percent of Americans view the health-care law favorably.  Democratic Senator Max Baucus created a stir recently when he called the implementation process a “train wreck,” forcing the President to defend the law at Tuesday’s press conference.  This hour, we’ll get an update on the ACA, the provisions that are already in place and their affect so far.  Also, how will the implementation of the insurance exchanges work and will it be as difficult as some are suggesting? Marty talks with DAVID GRANDE, an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and a Senior Fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, University of Pennsylvania, and ROBERT FIELD, Professor of Law and Professor of Health Management and Policy at the Earle Mack School of Law and School of Public Health Drexel University.
