This week, President Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney got the opportunity to address Latino voters, trying to earn their support at a “Meet the Candidates” forum in Florida and on the Spanish language TV network, Univision. Romney also spoke this week at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce convention. But a poll released Monday shows that Obama has a wide lead over Romney among Hispanic voters, 68% to 26%.  So what explains this gap and is there anyway for Romney to close it?  Also, just how important is the Latino vote in deciding this election?  This hour, we’ll look at the issues that matter to the Hispanic community and how the candidates are courting Latino voters.  Our guests are ALI VALENZUELA, an Assistant Professor of Politics and Latino studies at Princeton University and GABRIEL SANCHEZ, Associate Professor in Political Science at the University of New Mexico. and Director of Research for Latino Decisions.
