Affordable Care update and legal challenge before the Supreme Court
ListenGuests: Mary Agnes Carey, Theodore Ruger
Enrollment for health plans through the Affordable Care Act is open until February 15th. According to the latest figures, some 7.1 million Americans have signed up for health plans so far and it looks like the government will meet its goal of enrolling 9.1 million people this year. So is the ACA working for Americans? We’ll take a look at how the health law is performing with MARY AGNES CAREY, senior correspondent for Kaiser Health News. Then, this year the Supreme Court will hear a challenge to the health law, King v. Burwell, in which the plaintiffs argue that subsidies for people on the federal exchanges aren’t legal. We will take a closer look at the case and what it could mean to Obamacare with THEODORE RUGER deputy dean and professor at University of Pennsylvania Law School.
