A look at the demographics of the global population and their implications
Listen 00:48:45Guests: Carl Haub, Roger-Mark De Souza
Today we look at the global population and the implications of regional birth rates. While many countries in Western Europe and East Asia are concerned about their declining birth rates, globally, overpopulation is a bigger concern. What would the demographics of an ideal, sustainable global population look like? And what do the current projections of population growth say about the future of our planet’s environment, public health, and economy? We’re joined by CARL HAUB, senior demographer for the Population Reference Bureau, and by ROGER-MARK DE SOUZA, director of Population, Environmental Security and Resilience at the Wilson Center’s Global Sustainability and Resilience Program.
