A conversation with John Bogle

Listen 52:27

Hour 1
In his ninth and newest book, Don’t Count on It, John Bogle, founder of The Vanguard Group of Mutual Funds, considers the flaws in our complex financial system and offers his valuable perspective on how it can be reformed.  In a series of essays, he explores how we got here and how we confuse the “market of real investing”  with the “market of expectations.”  He says we “disregard the beauty of simplicity in favor of the wizardry that creates complex ‘products’ that serve Wall Street at the expense of its clients.” This past year, Forbes Magazine described Mr. Bogle as the “person who has done more good for investors than any other financier of the past century.” And in the forward Don’t Count on It economist Alan Blinder calls Bogle the “conscience of Wall Street.” Mr. Bogle joins Marty in the studio in this hour of Radio Times.
