A celebration of dad jokes

Listen 00:48:44

Guests: Jaya Saxena, Bill Hangley, Jon Sutton

In honor of Father’s Day, we devote this hour of Radio Times to the most groan-worthy, eye roll-inducing, and flat-out corny jokes that are so often told by dad. So-called “dad jokes” have become a bit of a cultural phenomenon, generating internet memes and even its own section on the popular social media forum “Reddit.” Today, we’ll hear a few “dad jokes” from the staff at WHYY, and talk with our guests about why dad can’t help himself when it comes to the most hilariously unbearable puns, rhymes and knock-knock jokes. We’re joined by psychologist and founder of the “Dad Pride” blog, JON SUTTON. We’ll also speak with writer and co-founder of the satirical Dad Magazine at The Toast, JAYA SAXENA, and by freelance reporter and a humor editor at Reader’s Digest, BILL HANGLEY.
