Political gridlock has increasingly been the top of the news cycle for years. But the mysterious actions behind the four-day gridlock created from the September 2013 lane closures from Fort Lee, New Jersey into New York City are becoming clearer. Some people have speculated this was an act of political retaliation towards the Fort Lee Mayor for not supporting Governor Christie’s reelection. Newly released emails reveal damning evidence the lanes were planned three weeks in advance of the first day of school – and a top aid and former Christie appointees have been fired or have resigned since December. Despite the Governor’s hour and 45 minute mea culpa press conference yesterday, many unanswered questions remain. Did he know about the lane closures? Were they really part of a traffic safety review that began on the first day of school? We’ll talk to Rutgers University political science professor, ROSS BAKER, and New Jersey Star Ledger reporter JENNA PORTNOY about this developing story.
