Woman assaulted, car stolen during possible home invasion in Wilmington

New Castle County police are investigating a possible home invasion in the Windsor Hills neighborhood in Wilmington that left a woman critically injured.

According to police, the husband of the 61-year-old victim came home just before 10 a.m. Thursday morning to find his wife unconscious in their living room and one of their cars stolen from the driveway.

The woman was transported to Christiana Hospital where she’s in critical condition.

Police are continuing to investigate and are searching for the stolen vehicle, a gray-colored 2010 Lexus H250 with the license plate DE 79381.

The incident happened in the 100 block of Cambridge Drive in the Windsor Hills neighborhood in Wilmington. Anyone with information is asked to call the New Castle County Police Department at (302) 395-8110. New Castle County police are also urging anyone who believes they are a victim of a vehicle or residential break in to call 911 immediately.
