Police investigate fatal shooting in West Oak Lane

Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday night in West Oak Lane.

At approximately 9:48 p.m., officers were dispatched for a report of a person with a gun on the 7200 block of Ogontz Ave. Arriving on scene, police observed a 33-year-old male on the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

6ABC reported that the victim was shot as he opened the front door to his West Oak Lane apartment, located near Oak Lane Express Pizza. NBC10 said that a few shots hit the pizza shop but no one inside was hit.

The victim, who police have not identified as of late Wednesday morning, was transported by medics to Albert Einstein Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:26 p.m.

According to NBC10, police said that an argument preceded the shooting. 

Currently, detectives are continuing to look for clues and for potential suspects, descriptions of which were not available on Wednesday. With two other fatal shootings taking place in the overnight hours, the city’s total homicide count for 2013 stands at 122 victims.
