Wilmington teen killed in shooting

A 16-year-old Wilmington girl was shot and killed Wednesday night in the city’s Eastside section.

Wilmington Police say they were notified of the gunfire by the city’s Shot Spotter system around 9:45 p.m. They found the teen girl inside a residence in the 900 block of Kirkwood St. She was suffering from gunshot wounds to her chest and arm.

She was treated on the scene by New Castle County Paramedics before being taken to Christiana Hospital where she died a short time later.

Police are not releasing any information about possible suspects or motives and say the investigation is active and ongoing.
