Wilmington native wins Oscar

Oscar shows some love to a Delaware film maker.

Wilmington native Luke Matheny won the Academy Award for best short film at last night’s celebration of the best movies of the year in California. Matheny won for his graduate thesis film from New York University “God of Love.” In addition to directing the 19-minute film, Matheny was also its star.

Matheny’s website details the plot of the short: “The story follows the adventures of lounge-singing darts champion Raymond Goodfellow, whose prayers are answered — literally — when he receives a package of passion-inducing darts.”
