Wilmington firefighters raise money to support cancer treatment

Wilmington firefighters showed their support for the Fire Fighter Cancer Foundation this morning, delivering a donation to the Wilmington-based group Thursday morning.

The funds for the donation come from the sale of breast cancer t-shirts produced by Public Safety Sportswear and bought by Wilmington area fire fighters.  The firefighters made their donation during a brief presentation at Fire Department headquarters.

The Wilmington-based Fire Fighter Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports first responders and their families who are recovering from cancer-related illnesses.  The donated funds will cover treatment resources that are not covered by insurance including breast prostheses, wigs and other items.
