Wildwood’s popular “beach box” storage rental system is expanding across municipal boundaries, officials announced.

Wildwood Crest has partnered with Wildwood to offer 84 beach boxes, with four units placed at 21 streets, according to a news release.

The partnership is due to the demand from Wildwood Crest residents. All box reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first served basis.

For now, officials say the four-by-four-foot boxes will only be available for the season, with weekly opportunities offered by the end of April as availability remains.

Officials say Wildwood’s program has grown over the years, providing another revenue stream from the municipality known for its expansive and ever-growing beach.

Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano Jr. says he’s looking forward to working with Wildwood Crest.

“I believe we should all work together to make our guests and residents have a good experience while visiting our beaches,” he said. “Hopefully this will open the door to more shared services in the future.”

Rentals are available at www.crestbeachboxes.com. From May 26 through Sept. 3, the beach boxes are $400.
