What’s the cost of facing criminal charges without a lawyer?

    It comes as little surprise that outcomes for criminal defendants are closely related to their ability to afford legal counsel.

    What may not be known is the extent to which indigent defendants are uniquely disadvantaged in Pennsylvania, the only state that places the cost of providing public defender services on its counties.
