Wetlands conference in Dover

Restoring and protecting Delaware’s wetlands will be the focus of a daylong conference in Dover.

Scientists, researchers, consultants and other will talk about the latest advances in managing wetlands and share ideas on how to best protect Delaware’s natural habitat.  Earlier this week, the state Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control issued a report showing that despite the heightened public awareness about the need to protect wetlands, the state was losing this critical land feature “at an alarming rate.”  The biennial report “Delaware Wetlands: Status and Changes” describes methods other state’s have implemented to reverse the loss of wetlands and how that could be applied to Delaware.  You can read the report on DNREC’s website.
