Weavers Way’s new health and wellness store in Chestnut Hill had its soft opening on Monday. The store, located directly next to the co-op’s grocery store on Germantown Avenue and appropriately dubbed Weavers Way Next Door, is set to have its grand opening on Nov. 8.

“We are still getting new products into the shop on a daily basis, so shelves are filling up slowly but surely,” said Rebecca Torpie, Weavers Way’s marketing manager.

The co-op secured a five-year lease on the building, formerly occupied by the Chestnut Hill Welcome Center, in late June.

The decision to expand to a health and wellness store is part of the group’s five-year growth strategy and tied to a 22 percent increase in sales for such products at the grocery store, according to the co-op’s chief financial officer, Michael McGeary.

The store is the first retail location for new lines of non-toxic nail polishes and recycled bamboo toothbrushes as well as West Chester-based Marvelous Mo’ & Me products, a line of all-natural lip balms, soaps and scrubs.

The grand opening will be held on Friday, Nov. 8 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will feature local vendors, product trials and live music. Weavers Way Next Door is located at 8426 Germantown Ave. in Chestnut Hill.
