Walking the walk along Philly’s new Rail Park

The evening jaunt was part of the Walk – Talk the Rail Park #happyhourlab hosted by CityLab and PlanPhilly.

Pedestrians, bicyclists, and one pup named Bizzy braved the heat of the last Tuesday in August to take a customized tour of the area surrounding Philadelphia’s new Rail Park.

Led by Friends of the Rail Park and PlanPhilly community engagement editor Diana Lu, the walk highlighted just a few of the key structures in the area and their myriad uses through the years, as well as the organizations that have a stake in the neighborhood.

The evening jaunt was part of the Walk – Talk the Rail Park #happyhourlab hosted by CityLab and PlanPhilly, which looked at the future of public parks in Philadelphia — from the big-picture thinking of the expert and practitioner, to the hyperlocal minute details that grassroots organizers, such as Asian Arts Initiative and FACTS (Folk Arts-Cultural Treasures) Charter School, take into consideration.
