Vote on bath salts ban expected

State Senators are expected to vote on a ban on bath salts today in Legislative Hall.

The Senate Judiciary Committee moved the bill to the Senate floor following their meeting on Wednesday.  Possession and sale of bath salts was outlawed by an emergency declaration from Governor Markell in September.  The bill up for a vote today gives police and prosecutors flexibility to make arrests and bring charges against people in possession of drugs that don’t have the same chemical composition as bath salts, but have similar effects.  Bath salts can make people act in an extremely violent or paranoid manner.
