And, because these things bear repeating, unless you’re a first-time voter or voting in a new polling place, you will not be required to show ID.
Storefronts on the 4600 block of Frankford Avenue will get a $200,000 facelift as part of the Commerce Department’s Storefront Improvement Program, reports Flying Kite. It’s part of a larger effort to improve the appearance of Frankford’s commercial district. Why the 4600 block? “It’s in the heart of the business district, has the highest concentration of businesses and has the potential to catalyze additional revitalization efforts nearby,” said Tracy O’Drain of Frankford CDC.
Liberty Property trust is proposing a 22-story office tower at 19th and Arch, reports Naked Philly. Liberty acquired the lot this summer and has showed their preliminary plans to Planning Commission members, Kennedy House, and Logan Square Neighborhood Association.
Amy Z. Quinn went inside Germantown’s Kendrick Mill to check out the renovation for PlanPhilly/NewsWorks. Ken Weinstein’s Philly Office Retail is behind the $400,000 project, and is hoping to see a creative mix of commercial tenants, artists, and startups for the old mill at East Pastorius Street and Germantown Avenue.
The School District is close to selling several of its vacant school buildings, including West Philadelphia High, but others for sale have seen no offers, reports NewsWorks/Public School Notebook. The School Reform Commission is negotiating offers for several buildings, and could vote on sales as soon as this month’s meeting. Over the next five years the School District hopes to make $28 million from the sale of surplus properties.
