Veterans watch making effort

The Delaware Veterans Coalition is moving forward with plans to train vets as watchmakers.

The Coalition will update their progress today in Dover City Council chambers at 11 a.m.  The goal is to give disabled military veterans a marketable skill that is in demand.  They say most expensive watches are shipped overseas for repair because there aren’t enough qualified watchmakers in the U.S.  Led by Swiss-trained master watchmaker Sam Cannan who recently moved to Dover after retiring from the Baltimore Police Department, the group wants to establish a watchmaker school in Dover.
