Valentines for Vets program gets underway in Delaware

Congressman John Carney (D.-Del.) begins his Valentines for Vets program today, and has already enlisted the help of young students at Wilmington’s Baltz Elementary School.

Second-graders and kindergarten students have been making valentine cards, which will be distributed to veterans at the VA Medical Center on Kirkwood Highway.  Carney and Veterans Service Representative Lakisha Bishop will also use the opportunity to impress upon the students the important role members of the military have in defending the nation.  “Valentines for Vets is a great opportunity for young people to make a personal connection with a veteran and learn more about the brave men and women who dedicate themselves to serving our country,” Carney said.
