Tree steward training tonight in Wilmington
Training sessions tonight in Wilmington will help create future ‘tree stewards’.The Delaware Center for Horticulture will host the first of three instructional sessions on tree management tonight. The program teaches proper planting, watering and pruning techniques, as well as the basics of tree biology and how to choose the best varieties for Delaware’s landscape. Tonight’s session will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. with additional sessions on September 27 and October 4. Participants who make all three classes will receive a new hand tool to take home. The program costs $10.
Over the last year, DCH has planted more than 1,300 urban trees with the help of tree stewards and other volunteers.
