Geeks to gather in South Jersey
ListenComic books, music, video games — Saturday is the first-ever South Jersey Geek Fest.
“We’re trying to get all the geeks together, you know?” said organizer Ryan Morrison. “We all have our own geeky interests, and a lot of them cross streams in a lot of capacities, but I thought this would be a fun opportunity to have a bunch of geeky interests under one roof.”
That also includes art, design, board games, YouTube personalities — even a yo-yo pro.
“We have a couple tournaments happening as well,” Morrison said. “We’re doing a ‘Super Smash Brothers’ tournament and we’re doing a ‘Magic: The Gathering’ tournament.”
The South Jersey Geek Fest takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the community center in Woodbury Heights, N.J.
It’s $8 to get in — but only $5 if you come in costume.
“We have some anime folks showing up, we have some video game costumes,” said Morrison. “I’m really hoping the Spidermans come, there’s a group of Spiderman people.”
