Timoney hired as consultant for Camden’s county police force

A familiar face in Philadelphia is heading to Camden later this month as the city and county move forward with plans to develop a regional police force.

John Timoney, former Philadelphia police commissioner, has been hired as a consultant to work with Camden County’s Board of Freeholders on the creation of a countywide force the City of Camden recently agreed to be a part of.

The Daily News reports Timoney has been the senior vice president of a Miami-based consulting firm, and will head to Camden Aug. 15 for what could end up being a longer-term position as the county searches for best practices.

WHYY’s Lizz Fiedler will have more on this story later.
