Tighter security at Delaware Park

Delaware Park is beefing up its security patrols, following three almost back-to-back robberies during the last month.

“We take the comfort and safety of our guests very seriously,” said the casino’s Executive Director of Security, Kathy Harer. “We have had very few incidents here because our security procedures are thorough and our security team is extremely dedicated and professional. However, we are always looking for ways to improve.”

After two casino guests and two employees were robbed at Delaware Park, Harer says Delaware Park’s security team met with the Delaware State Police and the Delaware Division of Gaming Enforcement to develop a “coordinated plan,” to increase security.

“State police officials believe all of these were isolated incidents. But we want to do whatever we possibly can to prevent any incidents at our facility,” said Harer.

Delaware Park already offers free shuttles as well as valet parking for guests. The casino says it will also provide security escorts to and from its parking lots, upon request.
