Three cities, one Lehigh Valley: Join Keystone Crossroads for a public forum on March 31

Keystone Crossroads will be hosting a community forum in the Lehigh Valley to hear from residents about the major challenges facing the region.

After decades of de-industrialization and job losses, the Lehigh Valley is a growing region that is full of promise and challenges.

It’s cities have seen a recent boom in development — including millions of dollars of investment going to Allentown’s downtown and the Neighborhood Improvement Zone.

“I think we’re still leaving a lot of people behind,” said Alan Jennings, executive director of Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley and project review committee chairman for the Allentown Neighborhood Improvement Zone Development Authority.

“There’s still a terribly segregated region. There’s still a tremendous amount of income and wealth disparity and none of that is good for a civilized society.”

On March 31, Keystone Crossroads will host a community forum to hear the concerns of Lehigh Valley residents at the Northampton Community College Fowler Family Southside Center in south Bethlehem.

We’ll ask residents to share their hopes and fears and we’ll ask about the major challenges facing the region.  A portion of the event will also include a conversation about how well the media does and does not cover the issues community members care about most.

There will be no panel discussion. After a short program, participants will break into small-group dialogues moderated by the Penn Project for Civic Engagement.
