Three children shot in Kensington since May

When Javier Merle Jr. was shot Thursday in Kensington, he became the third child in the neighborhood to be wounded by a gun since May. Merle’s wound was fatal.

Police are still investigating the details that resulted in the 4-year-old being shot in the head. As of this morning, no cause, motive or suspect had been reported.

In May, a 1-year-old was struck in the shoulder after being caught in the crossfire. Earlier this month, a 2-year-old girl was shot in the arm while playing in a backyard pool. The Inquirer has more information on what few details are available on Merle’s death.
