Wilmington Police have charged two men with attempted murder and other related charges after an undercover police car was hit by gunfire.
Sirair Bailey and Troy Faison are both convicted felons with previous weapons offenses. The suspects are behind bars at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
WPD said Bailey, Faison and a third suspect were in a silver Buick spotted speeding in the area of W. 35th and N. Market Streets around 12:45 Monday afternoon. Police believed the car and its occupants had been involved in a previous shots fired incident.
As police tailed the Buick through the city’s north side, an occupant fired several shots at the unmarked police car shattering the passenger side window.
After crashing into a parked care in the 2800 block of N. West Street, police said three people ran out of the car. Bailey and Faison were taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. Police are still searching for the third suspect.
No one was hurt throughout the ordeal.
