The public is welcome to a Diabetes awareness program in Dover

The Delaware Diabetes Coalition and the Division of Public Health are hosting a free program today in Dover to share information on how to cope with the disease.

The 10th annual Diabetes Wellness Expo is being held at the Dover Downs Hotel and Conference Center from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Screenings for diabetes and other associated health issues will be available, and health professionals will be on hand to answer questions and provide advice on managing diabetes, which affects 8.3% of the population according to the 2008 Delaware Behavioral Risk Survey.  For information on diabetes and the expo call the Delaware Diabetes Coalition at 302-744-9267 or DPH Diabetes Prevention and Control Program at 302-744-1020.
