A 14-year-old girl was rescued from a pit after an encounter with a large black bear in Carbon County.
WPVI-TV reports the 14-year-old and two other girls were hiking in a mountainous area between Lansford and Nesquehoning boroughs Sunday when the bear approached them.
According to investigators, the girls attempted to run away from the bear, while one of them plunged into the pit.
