Sussex County has good tax news for residents

Sussex County property taxes are not going up this year.  However, county officials say the budget for the 2012 fiscal year will be tight.

The $139.2 million budget proposal also eliminates the capitation tax, which had been $3 per person.  The budget also avoids layoffs.  There will be sewer rates increases ranging from $8 to $15.  County Council will hold hearings and is scheduled to vote on the budget on June 14th. It is also the last budget presented by County Administrator David Baker who will retire after this year.
