Police investigate apparent homicide at Delaware truck plaza

State Police are investigating the apparent murder of a man whose body was found at the Delaware Truck Plaza near New Castle over the weekend.

Troopers say someone passing by the facility on Route 13 near Route 40 discovered the victim in the northside parking lot at about 9 a.m. Sunday.  Homicide detectives have identified the dead man as 56-year-old Ronald Hardy of New Castle.

The Office of the State Medical Examiner classified the death as a homicide.  The exact cause of death has not been released.

Police are also still trying to locate the victim’s pick-up truck, a 1992 tan Ford Ranger with Delaware license plate CL71413.  It also had distinctive black steel wheels with small silver center caps.  A surveillance photo indicates that the vehicle was driven away from the truck plaza at about 10 p.m. Saturday.
