Suspect held in attack on Temple student

Police have arrested a suspect in the sexual assault and robbery of a Temple University student.

Shakree Bennett was charged Wednesday with rape, sexual assault, robbery and other offenses in the Sept. 28 attack.

The 23-year-old Bennett was extradited from Essex County, New Jersey. He is being held on $50,000 bail.

Online court records didn’t list a lawyer to comment on the charges.

Police say the 20-year-old Temple student was robbed and sexually assaulted as she walked home from the campus library.

The school alerted students on social media.

Bennett was sentenced in 2012 to prison on robbery charges.
