Conservative group whacks Obama in PA, Biden headed our way

I don’t even watch much television, but I saw the political ad above on Saturday, and wondered if the Romney campaign had decided they had a chance to compete in Pennsylvania after all.

It depicts a young mom running with her baby in a carrier, musing that she “jogs to forget” her husband’s unemployment and other problems, and her mistaken vote for Obama four years ago.

It turns out the ad isn’t run by the Romney campaign or its main Super PAC, but by Americans for Job Security, a business advocacy group that has run ads against Democrats in many Congressional races, including U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire in western Pennsylvania.

I checked, and the group bought $330,000 worth of ad time on Channel 6 alone. Tom Fitzgerald of the Inquirer writes that the total buy is around $654,000 on broadcast and cable TV.

Most polls still show Obama with a lead in Pennsylvania, including a new Inquirer poll that shows Obama up by 6 points among likely voters.

But the Obama campaign said in a news release yesterday that Vice President Joe Biden will campaign in Pennsylvania Thursday.

    Bears watching, I suppose.
