S. Jersey man held on human trafficking charges after luring Texas woman to Philly

UPDATE: A Camden County grand jury brought no charges against suspects Michael D. Watts, Staysha L. Hackman and Michelle Rolon.

A man who allegedly lured a Texas woman to New Jersey for a modeling job but instead forced her to dance at a Philadelphia strip club is now facing human trafficking charges.

Camden County prosecutors say bail was set at $500,000 for Michael Watts, a 43-year-old Voorhees resident who also faces a criminal sexual contact charge. It wasn’t known Monday if he’s retained an attorney.

The 20-year-old woman told authorities that Watts paid for her airfare to Philadelphia and picked her up at the airport on July 13. He then allegedly told her she belonged to him and said there would be “consequences” if she tried to leave.
