Smart meter open house in Newark tonight

Newark will host an open house for residents and businesses in town to learn more about its smart meter project.

The new meters will allow for monthly instead of quarterly readings of water meters, as well as more efficient electric meter reading.  Town leaders say it will also allow workers to identify water leaks sooner.  Tonight’s open house is from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the Newark Municipal Building at 220 Elkton Road.  Formal presentations will be made every 45 minutes, with question and answer time available in between.  For those unable to make tonight’s open house, information is available on Newark’s website, www.cityofnewarkde.us/smartmeters
