Small Business Association awards Delaware entrepreneur

Delaware businesswoman Christy Crkvenac received top honors Monday from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

Crkvenac, who founded Fulcrum Pharmacy and Radius Rx Direct, was selected as Delaware’s Small Business Person of the Year.

Fulcrum and Radius Rx Direct are long-term care pharmacies that meet a unique need in Delaware. Her company supplies prescriptions to correctional facilities and to agencies serving individuals with mental or behavioral health issues, physical disabilities or substance abuse problems. A service the SBA says mitigates health care costs through the use of best practices.

“Christy’s innovativeness and leadership are an example for small business owners everywhere,” said Jayne Armstrong, SBA Delaware district office director.

Crkvenac received assistance and a guaranteed loan from the SBA when she first decided to open Fulcrum Pharmacy back in 2003.

“All across the country, Americans like Christy are doing amazing things to out-innovate, out-educate and out-build the rest of the world,” said SBA Regional Administrator John Shoraka.

Shoraka also says any small business needs to go the SBA’s website. A resource, he says, small business owners can utilize to get information and support to not only start but also grow their businesses.
