A man is in stable condition after being shot in West Oak Lane late Sunday night.

Shortly after 11 p.m., police responded to the area near 77th and Ogontz aves. after receiving numerous calls reporting gunshots. Upon their arrival, police quickly cordoned off two crime scenes.

The first, located on 77th Avenue, contained a Kia Sorrento that the victim, a 25-year-old man, was said to be seated inside when gunfire erupted.

Sitting behind the wheel of the parked car, the victim was struck in the arm and buttocks.

After being struck, the victim, along with a male passenger who was uninjured, got out of the car and ran to a nearby 7-Eleven convenience store on Ogontz Avenue, thus becoming a second scene for police.

Police found the victim at the 7-Eleven — itself no stranger to trouble — and transported him to Albert Einstein Medical Center.

While police said that the victim was not cooperating with their investigation, detectives were interviewing several witnesses and canvassing the area for surveillance footage.

The gunman, whose description was not made available Sunday night, was said to be on foot at the time of the shooting. A motive was not immediately available.
