Shapiro continues fight to regulate cell phone use for Pa. drivers

After Bills 67 and 2070 failed to pass in the last session, House Bill 330 outlines more regulations for teen and adult drivers in Pennsylvania. Rep. Josh Shapiro, D-153rd, has vowed once more to push the cell phone ban through to legislation.

Under the new bill, teens under 18 would be banned from using hands-free and hand-held devices and texting while driving. Adults would also be prohibited from using hand-held devices and texting, but would be allowed to use a hands-free talking device while driving.

The primary offense law would allow police officers to pull driver overs for the cell phone violation alone, as the Main Line Times reports.

The House Transportation Committee will review the bill.
