Serious accident shutters Route 72 in Woodland Township

UPDATE: A 21-year-old Barnegat woman was killed in the crash involving three vehicles, NBC10 reports.
Police have not yet released the woman’s identity, the report states.
A motorist heading westbound entered the eastbound lane, striking two vehicles and sending sending the driver of the third vehicle to the hospital, according to the report.

A portion of Route 72 in Woodland Township in Burlington County is closed following a fatal motor vehicle accident.
The highway is closed between Chatsworth Road and Savoy Boulevard, according to Google Traffic.
There were also multiple injuries, NBC10 reports.
No further information was immediately available regarding the accident, which occurred shortly before 6 p.m. today, according to emergency radio transmissions.
Route 72 connects the northern Philadelphia suburbs with Long Beach Island.
