Seaford School District names new superintendent

A Maryland school official has been hired to become the new Superintendent in Sussex County’s Seaford School District.

The Seaford Board of Education selected Dr. Shawn Joseph to lead the school system, effective February 1st.  The district says it undertook an extensive recruitment and interview process to find the replacement for Superintendent Dr. Russell Knorr.  Knorr retires June 30th after 30 years with the Smyrna School District.  Joseph is now Director of School Performance with the Montgomery County, Maryland Public Schools.  His background also includes experience as a principal, assistant principal and teacher.  Joseph also has a book due for release in December.  He graduated from George Washington University, where he has also been an adjunct professor.
