Sculpture to honor Underground RR heroes

Wilmington leaders will unveil a monument dedicated to two heroes of the Underground Railroad.  The sculpture will honor Harriet Tubman and Thomas Garrett and will be located in the park that already bears their name: Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park.  The park is located near the intersection of Rosa Parks Drive and Market Street.  As part of the ceremony unveiling the sculpture, the state Department of Transportation will also present the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway Corridor Management Plan.  The plan is designed to help preserve and recognize the legacy of the Underground Railroad in the First State.
