School delays and power outages

The freezing rain and ice has caused all Philadelphia public and Cathollic schools to call a two-hour delayed opening.

Green Woods Charter School in Roxborough, Penn Charter School in East Falls and the Academy in Manayunk are also on two-hour delays due to inclement weather.

All SEPTA regional rail lines, including the Manayunk/Norristown line, are experiencing delays.

The Roxborough YMCA is open but all morning exercise classes have been canceled.

As of this morning, thousands of PECO customers in Philadelphia were reportedly without power. Call 1-800-841-4141 to report an outage or an emergency.

The temperature’s right around the freezing point in most places around the Delaware Valley – with highs above 40 for today. Hopefully, some of this piled-up white stuff covering our trees and streets will get a chance to melt.

If you’d like to report a closure or delay in Roxborough, Manayunk or East Falls, e-mail mpinto@whyy.org. Stay safe out there!
